Colorful Classrooms

"We shape our dwellings, thereafter our dwellings shape our lives."
Winston Churchill

Our Colorful Classrooms campaign was born out of a simple idea: add color to children's lives. Through it, Glidden transforms kindergarten classrooms across the country, donating customized color design, labor and materials.

Of course, the program just doesn't add color - it also enhances learning. These colors help fulfil a child's social, emotional, and physical needs and create an environment that is conducive to learning. Glidden's color experts suggest color schemes based on room size, lighting, climate, and personal preferences.

In the past six years of the program, we’ve painted over 120 classrooms. We will be rolling up our sleeves to paint more classrooms again this summer. To nominate a U.S. public school kindergarten classroom to be painted by Glidden in 2006 – at no charge to the school – complete a nomination form and send to the address provided along with a “before” photo of the room. (be sure to write the school’s name, city and state on back). Nominations must be received by April 5, 2006 to be considered for the 2006 campaign.
