3. Digital image. Check the camera manufacturer's instructions for details on importing images to your hard drive.
Whichever way you choose, make sure your photo is saved in one of the following formats: JPEG (.jpg), compressed TIFF (.tif), Bitmap (.bmp).
Saving your image.
Click the "Save Project" button at the bottom of your screen. This prompts you to save the current version of your work to your hard drive, where you'll be able to access it, even if you close out of the program and return to it another day. You will be asked to name your project. It also creates a customized Project Planner worksheet outlining all of the paint colors you've selected, quantities needed and basic supplies (fig.8). You can reference this at any time by clicking on the "Project Planner" icon at the top of the screen.

Taking photosexpert tips.
To improve the quality of your images as well as your ability to paint them quickly and easily, remember these tips when photographing a room or your home's exterior:
Lighting. Outdoors, try to have the sun behind or beside you when you take a picture. Indoors, turn on all lights in the room.
Clutter. If possible, position the shot so that the picture has as few obstructions as possible. Outdoors, avoid power lines, trees and cars. Indoors, try to eliminate all clutter from the room.
