Details

Area Preparation:

Surfaces to be coated must be dry. Remove all loose and peeling paint, dirt, grease and any other surface contaminants. Putty all nail holes and caulk all cracks and open seams. Sand all glossy, rough, and patched surfaces. Masonry and plaster surfaces must be allowed to cure for 30 days prior to painting. Uncoated substrates, repaired surfaces or lightly stained areas may require additional coats. For severe stains, water marks, and other challenging conditions, use a premium problem solving primer.

WARNING! If you scrape, sand, or remove old paint, you may release lead dust or fumes. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST OR FUMES CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a properly fitted NIOSH-approved respirator and prevent skin contact to control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop. Before you start, find out how to protect yourself and your family by contacting the USEPA National Lead Information Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead. In Canada, contact a regional Health Canada office. Follow these instructions to control exposure to other hazardous substances that may be released during surface preparation.

CONCRETE/MASONRY BLOCK: Mortar should cure for at least 30 days and preferably 90 days prior to painting. Fill block with an appropriate block filler. Surfaces previously coated with water thinned cement-based paint must be prepared with extra care. If the material appears to be adhering tightly, a masonry sealer may be applied to seal the surface. Check adhesion by applying a piece of masking tape. If the sealer peels off and has loose particles, remove all chalking or crumbling material, re-seal and re-check adhesion.

GYPSUM WALLBOARD-DRYWALL: Nails or screws should be countersunk, and they along with any indentations should be mudded flush with the surface, sanded smooth and cleaned to remove any dust prior to painting the substrate.

PLASTER: Plaster, hardcoat, skim coat, or other alkaline surfaces should be allowed to cure for at least 30 days prior to painting.

WOOD: Unpainted wood or wood in poor condition should be sanded smooth, wiped clean, then primed. Any knots or resinous areas must be primed before painting. Countersink all nails, putty flush with surface before painting.

Application:

Stir thoroughly before and occasionally during use. When using more than one can of the same color, intermix to ensure color uniformity.
Application Method: Apply with a high quality brush, roller, paint pad, or by spray equipment. Where necessary, apply a second coat. Allow each coat to dry before applying the next coat.
Application Equipment: For smooth surfaces, use a polyester nylon brush or 3/16” - 3/8” nap roller cover. For textured surfaces, use a nylon brush or roller designed for this purpose. If applied by spray, back-brushing or back-rolling is recommended. For airless spray application, use tip size 0.015” - 0.021” and pressure range of 1500 - 2000 psi.
Thinning: DO NOT THIN.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Gets peeled right off I went to home depot and they suggested this for my cabinets. I cleaned, sanded, cleaned and put three coats on the cabinet. Wasted my time and money and I don't even know how to fix it. Gets peeled off with a touch. I'm really disappointed as the painting went amazing, but the horrible color just gets peeled off.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not happy I am a devoted Glidden fan and have used various Glidden paint products from Home Depot and Walmart with great results until now. First, the sheen is not right. I normally use Glidden Satin for trim and in this line it is totallly flat. I returned to the store and purchased Semi Gloss and after three coats on primed trim there is still barely any shine. Too tired to paint any more. I called Glidden product support hoping for some answers. They would have reinbursed for the paint but that doesn't repay for the labor and mess. Very disappointed. You have lost a customer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful in every way This is the Popov Vodka of paint - seems OK for an evening project, but in the morning the pain reveals itself. It does not apply like any paint I have come across, the application can best be described as smearing. It remains sticky for hours, nay days, and then peels off months later. The instructions say not to thin, which is probably to prevent even more abysmal coverage. The only good feature is the lack of odor, which probably means that there is a complete lack of active ingredients. It sucks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst paint ever! I bought this to redo my bathroom and after allowing 5 days of drying it washes off the walls and peels. I just wasted so much money on this AND have to redo my walls. I would not recommend this paint to anyone!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from JUST SAY NO!!! We went to a big box store about a month ago and told the salesperson we wanted paint for cabinets as we are building a desk with wood file cabinets. This is what was recommended. We prepped and painted and now 3 weeks later (after desk is assembled) if you touch the paint, it comes off. This is HORRIBLE and NOT for wood. If anyone suggests this paint, JUST SAY NO. Our desk is ruined.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Won't Use Glidden Again Many years ago I worked for Glidden selling the products in a retail setting. Have used them over the years and never had a problem until now. Applying the semi gloss interior paint of a mix of newly textured and existing walls, it covers very poorly, does not adhere well and does not dry with a consistent sheen. Works OK on the fresh texture but coverage an sheen are uneven. On the existing painted surfaces ,this is akin to smearing grease on the wall and hoping it will look better once it dries. If it has a primer built in I would not think the adhesion and coverage would be so poor. I will go another brand going forward.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Chips off! Even over a proper primer this paint doesn't stick! It chips off with a bump or a fingernail.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Paint I used this paint in my bathroom. I always make sure to have a fan on when someone is bathing and about an hour afterwards. I always prep my walls the day before painting. Not only did I have to put three coats of this paint on my walls, but here we are almost two months later, and if water happens to get on the wall when I go to wipe the water off guess what comes with it? Oh yeah, the paint! So not only do the water marks stay on the wall, but the paint comes off as well. I want my money back!
